Kombucha & Fruit Slushie

Kombucha Slushie Summer Paleo.png

Summer is HERE and we have been looking for all the ways to cool off during these HOT afternoons! The kids have been loving the slip n’ slide, so much so that our backyard has become a swamp of dead grass and mud. So we are taking a quick break from that…We have been making popsicles and smoothies on repeat! So I thought I would share one of our go to summer treats that is SO simple and easy, but also loaded with health benefits!

These kombucha slushies are perfect for cooling off on a hot day and you can easily customize the flavor to create your favorite treat! If you are not familiar with kombucha, it is a fermented tea that is loaded with probiotics. Drinking kombucha aids in gut health, which also helps to strengthen the immune system! There is some controversy on the consumption of kombucha by kids, as the drink does contain trace amounts of alcohol. The majority of commercial brands have .5% ABV, (the same amount as a glass of orange juice).

I personally allow my kids to drink small amounts of kombucha because of the health benefits. If you are unsure about offering kombucha to your child you can consult with your pediatrician or family doctor. These kombucha slushies are great for adults too, and if you are interested in offering it to your children you can always cut the kombucha in half and replace with coconut water.

Another great way to enjoy this recipe is as a popsicle! Simply, pour the slushie into a popsicle mold and freeze. You can find some of my favorite popsicle molds HERE.
