DIY Denim Cut-Off Shorts

DIY cut of jean shorts how to.png

It’s warming up and I realized that I do not have one pair of denim shorts for summer! What I do have though are lots of jeans, many that I don’t even wear. So I decided to turn a couple pairs of jeans into shorts. It was super easy to do and saved me from going out and spending money on new shorts! You probably have all of the supplies right at home. Check out the details below.

HOW TO:

You’ll begin by trying on your jeans to see how they fit and mark what length you want your shorts to be. It’s always best to go longer than shorter, as you can always cut them a second time. Once you’ve marked the length remove the jeans and lay them on a flat surface. Smooth out any wrinkles. Using a ruler you will draw a chalk line on one side to begin. This will be where you will be cutting. Your line can be on a 1 to 2” angle getting shorter on the outside of the leg. After cutting the first leg measure the new inseam to make sure both legs will be the same length. Repeat the process on the other side. Once both sides are cut, you will begin to fray the cut edges by pulling gently at the strings. Grab some sand paper and rub the edges to continue to fray them until you achieve your desired look!
