Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub

This simple sugar scrub recipe is perfect for exfoliating your skin! It can be used on your whole body, including your face! I love keeping a jar in the shower to use once a week, and it leaves my skin so smooth and soft. Most skin and beauty care products are packed with unnecessary, harmful ingredients! I have been working to replace my products with clean, safe options and many are homemade like this one.

Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin cells which helps in preventing bacteria and dirt from getting trapped under the skin’s surface. It helps to unclog pores, prevent acne, even skin tone, boost circulation, increase cell turnover and stimulate collagen! Another way you can gain these benefits and more are from dry brushing. You can read more about that HERE.

To mix up a jar of this simple sugar scrub you will need just 3 ingredients! You can easily adjust the amounts of each ingredient to make enough to fill whatever size jar you have available.

INGREDIENTS:

When is comes to essential oil, not all are alike. There are lots of options to choose from now, but many are made with harmful fillers and synthetics. It is important that you choose one that is completely pure! I love and use Young Living Essential Oils, you can read more about them on my oils page HERE if interested.

A carrier oil is an oil that helps to dilute the essential oil before being applied to the skin. In this recipe it is also used to create the right consistency for your sugar scrub. There are many options for carrier oils, but for this recipe I suggest using jojoba oil or rose hips oil. Both have wonderful skin benefits including: anti-inflammatory properties, calming, reduce redness, skin repair, and moisturizing. If you have dry skin the rose hips oil would be the best choice for you! When choosing your carrier oil it is also important to choose one that is a good quality. You want to look for an organic, unrefined, cold pressed oil for the best option. You can click through to my links above to see my favorites.

Now to mix up your sugar scrub you will simply place your sugar in a bowl. I typically use about 1/2 cup of sugar, but you can adjust to make what you’ll need to fill your jar. Next you will add drops of lavender essential oil. I typically use 4-6 drops. You can also try mixing up different combinations of oils. Some other great skin oils are: copaiba and frankincense. I also love the smell of eucalyptus when I am exfoliating in the shower, so I have used that with the lavender for a really nice combo. Lastly, you will add in your carrier oil of choice. Slowly drop in your carrier oil and stir until the sugar in saturated. You can add more or less based on your own personal preferences.

FRANKINCENSE: Strengthens the skin and improves tone, elasticity, and appearance with aging. It is also a defense mechanism against bacteria or blemishes. It may help skin tone, lift skin, reduce the appearance of scars, and acne.
