Easy Apple Snack for Kids

KIDS APPLE SNACK PALEO.png

Apples have become our go to snack pretty much all the time! So much so, that most of my kid’s friends now automatically ask for “apples and cinnamon” as soon as they come over!

We don’t always make these fun little sandwiches, in fact most of the time it is just sliced apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon! However, these are a fun way to mix up snack time and make a healthy snack more appealing.

Another fun thing is that the kids can get involved by helping pick and put their toppings on! I find that when my kids are helping to make their food, they are much more likely to eat it…and enjoy eating it! Offering a variety of toppings can also allow for your child to try something new and get some added health benefits to their snack!

The possibilities for these little sandwiches can go on and on, so have fun thinking of new ingredients to add in. I have listed some of our favorite toppings for you down below! You can also switch up what kind of nut butter you use depending on your family’s favorite! I typically like to buy green apples because they have less sugar than other varieties. I also find that when I have any other variety in the house, my kids will choose the sweeter option. If your kids usually do not eat green apples, you may find that they like them like this!

Ingredients:

  • green apples, sliced in thin rounds

  • nut butter

  • toppings

*you will also need a very small cookie cutter to remove the apple core from each slice, or you can use a pairing knife instead if you do not have a small cookie cutter.

Directions:

Remove the centers of the apple slices where the seeds are located using a small cookie cutter or pairing knife. Pair up your apple slices in sets of two that match in size best. Spread your choice of nut butter on the bottom slice. Let your kids sprinkle their choice of toppings on the nut butter. Place the top slice on or eat them open faced. Enjoy!
